This might seem obvious to a lot of people, but I just got my head around it today, so I thought I’d share. Maybe I’m a little behind the ball, but eating off a real plate is a lot more satisfying that eating out of tupperware. I mean it seems obvious since you “eat” with your eyes first, but I always think in terms of dirty dishes (mostly just minimizing cleaning up after myself) not how satisfying my meals are looking while I scarf them down at my desk. I usually eat my lunch off a real plate, but almost never with my breakfast.

It can be a bit of a challenge with overnight oats, but today I was able to do it relatively easily:

Kind of funny (slash creepy) how it keeps its shape since its cold. My oats contained 1/4 cup steel cut oats, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt, 1/2 cup fiber one, vanilla extract, and Truvia.  I’m going to try to start making more of an effort to eat breakfast and lunch on real plates, instead of just out of the tupperware I bring them to work in. . we’ll see how long that lasts 😛

We had a speaker at 12 today at work, so I drank a cup of green tea and ate a Fuji apple during the presentation and waited until after to eat my lunch.

I was so excited to dive into my leftovers from last night, and the soba noodles tasted almost better today.

I think the flavors really meshed together overnight, so it was really flavorful and delish. Mmm.

So, it’s St. Patty’s Day, and I went to find something green to wear this morning and I had nothing! Since that was out, I was trying to figure out what to make for dinner tonight that could be green, and then remembered I’ll be throwing together a green monster after work! woohoo. Whatever it takes to get through the day, right? I was thinking about going out after work to celebrate, but I’m still not feeling 100% so want to take it easy. Plus, The Time Traveler’s Wife is coming in the mail today!

  1. amen with the plates deal. it’s one of those things you hear constantly but manage to ignore just as consistently! i’ll have to buckle down and deal with the extra dirty dish.

digging your blog, beth. keep it up!

  2. I live out of my containers.. Its shameless to admit. At least I plan ahead & pack, right?

  3. I used to do the same, but I do plates for two reasons: (1) the pretty factor and (2) the earth factor. I realized I’m using plastic I don’t need to use. So at work I have a ceramic bowl and plate and a glass. I also have utensils so I won’t be using plasticware and the plastic its contained in and throwing that into the garbage all the time.

Don’t you love soba noodles? Yummy!
