• Welcome to Beth’s Journey!

Hey! I'm Beth - a 27 year old foodie living and working in the Washington, DC area who has lost almost 90 pounds through Weight Watchers. I love good food, wine and getting creative in the kitchen, and then balancing that out with running, The Shred, and yoga. Please feel free to browse around and hopefully you'll find some ideas, recipes and motivation!

Year 26 Highlights + Year 27 Hopes

I don’t normally do two posts in one day anymore, but it’s my birthday and I can do what I want. 😉

26 was quite the year for me! Some of the major highlights…

I ran not one, but TWO half marathons!

My first one ever in Philly

And then my second one and my personal record in my city – DC.

I hit my goal weight

AND I made Lifetime status with Weight Watchers!

I also started working for Weight Watchers as a receptionist, which has been a big goal for me for some time.

I attended two healthy living conferences, first the Healthy Living Summit last August in Chicago… and then FitBloggin in Baltimore in May!

I got featured as a Health Hero on the Washingtonian’s Wellbeing Blog.

Beth’s Journey was also featured as one of the four inspirational weight loss blogs on a health.com article!

I traveled A LOT. I went to:

Also, I have my first speaking engagement coming up at the Healthy Living Summit in August – details just posted today!

I also took control of my finances, which is the biggest weight off my shoulders! Update on that front – I am down to around $4k of credit card debt (from $11k!) and have also paid off my car in full! I expect to be 100% debt free before 2012!

I’m sure I’m missing some, but those are the big ones sticking out in my mind!

Hopes for Year 27

  1. Run a FULL marathon – Scheduled for October 30, 2011!
  2. Select a triathlon for 2012
  3. Become a Leader for WW
  4. Maintain my weight (or lose a few lbs!) throughout my 27th year
  5. Get fully out of debt and have a hefty emergency fund of 6 months of living expenses saved before turning 28!
  6. Plan an international trip for 2012 – I haven’t been out of the country since I was a kid!
  7. Redesign Beth’s Journey and move to a self hosted domain – stay tuned!

Here’s to an amazing 27th year!!

  35. Beth, the things you accomplished this past year look very similar to the goals I have for me for the next year. Hopefully at the end of the year I’ll be able to say I’ve accomplished them as well! 🙂 Also, I noticed your goal to become a WW leader. Will you let us know where if you do? I live in the DC area and love my leader, but she’s been gone for the past month and I’m not sure I can take the substitutes much longer…
